A few weeks back a security researcher by the name of Charlie Miller discovered a dangerous flaw in the security system for iOS. The operating system was allowing the device to download any application and execute malicious system level code on the iPhone. And for that reason we were able to get a new release from Apple in the form of iOS 5.0.1.
But now pod2g, one of the most well known hackers of the Chronic Dev Team has developed iOS 5 untethered jailbreak. He recently tweeted about his discovery along with a video showing how he performed the jailbreak on his iPod Touch. The video was removed later on due to unknown reasons but the tweet is still available on pod2g’s timeline. Here is what he said:
Now you can upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 as pod2g confirmed that this jailbreak will work with iOS 5.0.1 because it does not rely on Miller’s security law. The release date for this untethered jailbreak is still not confirmed, but lets hope that we can have it soon. For all you people who want to see how pod2g did the jailbreak, here is the video but without voice.
